The Environmental Highway Observatory (E-Highway) was contracted from Egnatia Odos S.A. to the BEC, within the cross border program IPA between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The program goal wasdevelopmentand implementation of a monitoring observatory, as well as the creation of monitoring protocols for water pollution, environmental pollution and noise pollution. Within this program, BECr has conducted analytical documentation of pollutant indicators to verify whether they are within the limits as prescribed bycodes and ordinances of the European Union for highways. By using appropriate methodologies, BEC has created a monitoring protocol that is the decisive tool for Egnatia Odos S.A. to monitor environmental pollution
BEC has developed methodologies and models as well as suggested actions as part of the project to create a decisive tool for both Egnatia Odos S.A. and the Ministry of Environment Energy and Climate Change for creating policies in harmonization with the European Policy concerning highway pollution matters, thus contributing to environmental protection and sustainable development.
