H2020 EIFFEL – 1st plenary meeting, June 2022, Athens
The interBalcan Environment Center participated in the two day plenary meeting of H2020 project EIFFEL that was held in Athens on June 23 and 24, 2022. EIFFEL is a game changer in the domain of climate change adaptation and mitigation by harvesting the benefits of the GEOSS data. The project will offer to the Earth Observation community the ground-breaking capacity of exploiting existing GEOSS datasets and will also build upon prior knowledge, with minimal new data collection activities.
During the 1st day of the meeting, on behalf of i-bec, Dr. Nikiforos Samarinas presented the progress of “Pilot 2 – Sustainable agriculture” and especially the development of a monitoring system to support crop carbon accountability and crop diversification assessment of the Lithuanian paying agency through Soil Organic Carbon topsoil content and sequestration modeling.
The second day started with Dr. Nikolaos Tsakiridis that presented the preliminary insights and scheduling related to “WP6 – Interpretability, integration and upscaling of EIFFEL CC applications” that starts in August, 2022 and is led by i-bec.
