Operational observatory functioning of telemetry network of surface and groundwater at Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace

The Balkan Environment Center, acting as a support unitof the Region of Central Macedonia of the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace, has evaluated the efficiency of the operational functioning of telemetry stations within the division of Central Macedonia. This evaluation of the telemetry network is being conducted in two phases:

Step 1: The precision of measurements from telemetry stations are evaluated by accepted approaches and methods to ensureaccuracy of data generated., especially calibration of physicochemical and chemical parameters from telemetric stations.

Step 2: Evaluation of the operational reliability and functioning of the stations based seamless daily collection and transmission of data to ensure program successto provide critical data for specific funcitons within a specified time frame.

This approach ensures operational functioning of the telemetry network to provide the Region of Central Macedonia the necessary instruments for observation of water bodies according to the Water Directive.

The operational monitoring program of the telemetry network was developed within the context of the following projects:
